Julianna Smith – Vocals

Julianna has an incredible gift that allows her to sing with emotion, clarity and soul. One of her big influences is Tina Turner. Julianna performed with a couple of corporate bands in the Austin Texas area but then took several years off to raise a family. She is now back with the vocal power and maturity that is the centerpiece of The Fringe Benefits! Trying to find local bands to take your event to the next level? Julianna’s ability to engage an audience is the reason your search is over.

John Fichtner – Guitar, Vocals

John’s music began with a $5 garage sale guitar with 3 missing strings. Later, his rock band “Black Diamond” performed at many venues in the Northern Lower Michigan area and received praise from area radio stations and newspapers. In more recent years, John managed and coached his son’s successful band Nocturnal Rush. After Nocturnal Rush dissolved, John returned to performing with a few local bands. He soon became bored with the same ole music most of local bands played. He wanted something different with some Soul and spunk. A band that could go from Motown to today’s pop. That band is The Fringe Benefits!

Greg (G2) Menke- Drums

Greg is very precise in his performance, getting all the drum licks and the appropriate beat for each section of each song. He has lots of gigging experience with multiple bands including having opened for major acts at The Bayou in Georgetown. On one occasion he happened to run into Robert Plant at the bar!

Gregg Sales – Bass Guitar, Vocals

Greg has played around the local DC area for years with such acts as Harmless Prank, Black Cracker, Ted Hovis Band, Hate The Toy, Soul Kitty 6, Members Only, Aquaspank, High Level Band, and in the Boston area with Love Drive and Pop Filter, plus other projects.

His influences range from hard-edged rock to power pop to fusion jazz. He is an advocate for the minimalist approach toward achieving a full and dynamic band sound. Besides a full time day job, he also teaches beginner guitar in local community adult education programs in Arlington County and Falls Church City.
